
The Suzhou Symphony Orchestra launched its 2025-26 music season with a concert staged at the Jinji Lake Concert Hall on the evening of Sept. 13. The concert was conducted under the baton of chief conductor Xu Zhong, featuring Richard Strauss’ “Also Sprach Zarathustra”, Wagner’s “Wesendonck Lieder”, and Stravinsky’s “The Firebird” (1919 version). Soprano Zhou Xiaolin joined the performance.
The 2025-26 season of the Suzhou Symphony Orchestra, which is the 10th music season since its establishment, will run from September this year to August next year. During this season, the orchestra will stage 40 performances, including symphonic concerts, master series, and chamber music, aiming to present an amazing audio feast for music fans in Suzhou, in the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region, and even across the country.
The season will gather together many well-known conductors and soloists from home and abroad. Conductors Samy Rachid, Enluis Montes Olivar, and Victor Jacob will collaborate with the orchestra for the first time. Conductors Zhang Guoyong and Li Biao, cellist Qin Liwei, and baritone Shen Yang will make a highly-anticipated return. Renowned artists such as violinist Viktoria Mullova, pianist Stepan Simonian, violinist Ellinor D’Melon, and soprano Catherine Foster will also appear on the stage.
